Since Vikingo's flow production stopped in early July, Interoilhas been keeping fluent and constructive social conversationswith the Duya's native community aimed at explaining the importance of the workover operation planned for Vikingo-x1 well. These profitable conversations have been extremely important to understand each party's concerns whilst mitigate Duya's cultural angsts by the mobilization of a work-over unit. All these has led to grant their authorization to cross with the eighteen loads comprising the work-over rig through their territory. Currently all of them are on-site and being rig-up in Vikingo-x1 to initiate work-over operation.
Interoil is planning the work-over program to last at least 10 days aimed at changing the downhole pump plus adapting Vikingo's production string so to either independently and/or commingle produce and test the C5 layer and the lower C7 layer.
Regardless of the positive outcome and recent improved social relationship with the Duya, Interoil keeps working to getaccess approval from private landowners through an alternative route named "The Northern Road". Once all landowners grant us the right of way, we will be able toevacuate Vikingo's production and, also, move equipmentshould the Duya surprisingly block the access path through their territory again.
Leandro Carbone, CEO, commented: We are pleased with the constructive and fruitful social improvement we are havingwith the Duya every day. Regardless the improved social relationship with the Duya native communities, Interoil will focus on the "Northern Road" since having another transit road is crucial for our daily operation for the Vikingo-x1 production as well as for any other operation within LLA-47.

According to the NOC, local hiring levels increased 24% during the first semester of 2018, compared to the same period last month.
The NOC’s figures show that 25.256 people were able to work with Ecopetrol, directly or through its subsidiaries, which represents a 24% increase compared to 2017’s figures.
“The increase of job opportunities for locals is a direct consequence of the increase of Ecopetrol’s activities in Colombia. The company is going through a successful transformation phase that allowed it to confront the fall of international oil prices,” the NOC said in a statement.
According to Prensa Libre Casanare, local hiring is still one of Ecopetrol’s main axes since on average, 84% of the firm’s hiring in its areas of influence, came from local sources.
Ecopetrol’s Central Regional, which includes de departments of Antioquia, Bogotá, Bolivar, Boyacá, Caldas, Cesar, Cundinamarca, Norte de Santander and Santander, generated the highest number of local workers during the first semester of the year, with 10,830 job opportunities.
The NOC’s Orinoquía and Oriente Regional areas, which include the departments of Arauca, Casanare, Cundinamarca and Meta, are next on the list, with 10,799 job opportunities during the same period of the year.
The Southern Regional, which includes de departments of Caldas, Caquetá, Cauca, Huila, Putumayo, Risaralda, Tolima and Valle, generated an average of 2.448 job opportunities, mostly in Huila and Putumayo.
The Pacific-Caribbean regional, which includes the departments of Atlántico, Bolivar, Cesar, Chocó, Cordoba, Guajira, Magdalena, Sucre and Valle, generated an average of 1,181 job opportunities.
Ecopetrol insisted on the fact that it will continue to support development activities in it areas of influence, and working with communities to assure a sustainable relationship with them.
Bottom-line: We have always said that figures speak louder than words, and this is yet another prove of it.
Communities should be more aware of the positive impact of the industry in their territories, and news like this can be used as a way to educate them on the matter.
